The papers are staying on the trail of the Suffolk murderer.

The Daily Mirror suggests the killer could have sent a text message from the phone of one of the missing women, Paula Clennell.

According to the Sun, a prostitute says she last saw victim Anneli Alderton get into a car driven by a kerb crawler.

He is described as chubby with dark glasses and short dark hair.

The witness says Anneli went over to the man because she was the nearest.

The Daily Express carries the story of how the government plans to replace thousands of post offices with mobile units and part-time counters.

The Daily Mail says counter services could even be set up in ice cream vans.

Posthumous medal

The Daily Telegraph's front page carries a photograph of paratrooper Corporal Bryan Budd.

He is expected to be awarded the first posthumous Victoria Cross since the Falklands War, after being killed while rescuing comrades in Afghanistan.

The Times reports that British soldiers have been cleared over rape allegations brought by more than 2,000 tribeswomen in Kenya.

It says a Royal Military Police investigation - which has cost taxpayers £3m - has failed to find a single case to answer.

The Telegraph covers the trial of a millionaire businesswoman accused of trying to kill her ex-lover's new wife.

Carol Ann Hunter is accused of hiring a hitman to stage a car accident.

Snow joke

The Guardian says warmer temperatures mean Alpine ski resorts at lower altitudes could close within decades.

Banks in Switzerland are already refusing to lend money on resorts below 5,000 feet.

And the Independent reports there is no snow in the Lapland town which is the traditional home of Santa Claus.

Visitors are having their reindeer sleigh rides cancelled and there is no word on whether Santa has a back-up transport plan for Christmas Eve.
