The family of a driver recruitment agency director who was killed at work have described him as a caring husband and loving father.

Kingsley Monk, 45, died at the Driverline 247 offices in New Inn, near Pontypool, Torfaen, on 20 October.

In a tribute, his family said Mr Monk had been diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma, a form of cancer, in 1997.

Russell Carter, 52, has been remanded in custody charged with attempted murder, murder and false imprisonment.

In the tribute released through Gwent Police, Mr Monk is also described as "the sort of son any parent would be proud to have".

It said that following his experience with non-Hodgkins lymphoma, he was able to give support to others going through the same illness.

"Kingsley was a wonderful and caring husband and a loving father who thought the world of his two boys Rhys and Matthew whom he idolised," it went on.

He felt privileged and made his working environment an extended family environment where he made great friends Family tribute to Kingsley Monk

"He was a kind and considerate person who always thought of others, and was involved in charity events with Bargoed Golf Club and donations to B6 North at the Royal Gwent Hospital.

"Kingsley loved his golf and had many true friends at Bargoed and Newport clubs.

"Kingsley worked hard at everything he did and was a perfectionist.

"He felt privileged and made his working environment an extended family environment where he made great friends.

"He has left a void that cannot be filled and he will be missed by all who knew him - taken tragically and violently far too soon.

"You will never be forgotten."

The tribute is signed with love from Debs, Rhys, Matthew, Martine, Mam and Dad and also thanks people for their support.

Mr Carter, of Rumney, Cardiff, is charged with the murder of Mr Monk, the attempted murder of three of his co-workers, and four counts of false imprisonment.

Magistrates remanded Mr Carter in custody until a preliminary hearing at Newport Crown Court on 30 October.
