Homes have been evacuated in a security alert on the outskirts of west Belfast. A number of controlled explosions have been carried out on devices during a security alert in Twinbrook on the outskirts of west Belfast.
It follows the discovery of a number of suspicious objects in Summerhill Drive in the Twinbrook area. People have been moved to a nearby parish hall. Homes in Summerhill Drive and nearby streets were evacuated on Wednesday morning. The police said most of the residents are now allowed home.
The alert started on Tuesday when a suspicious object was found. A police vehicle was damaged by stone-throwers during the security operation. The Army is still examining a suspicious object in the grounds of St Colm's school.
