Man hurt in grain silo accident

A 51-year-old man has been seriously injured after becoming trapped in a grain silo in Perthshire.

The accident happened at Pauls Malt Ltd, Sidlaw Grain Store, Mid Gallowhill, Burrelton, at about 1500 GMT on Monday.

The man was trapped up to his waist for some time and was treated by a trauma team from Ninewells Hospital before being freed by firefighters.

He is being treated in hospital for injuries to his feet and legs.

A spokesman for Tayside Police said the Health and Safety Executive had been informed and an investigation would take place.
