Man in court over woman's death

A man has appeared in court charged with killing a 20-year-old woman at her home in Ayr in August.

Gavin Boyd, 49, is accused of punching Vikki McGrand in the face, tying a cable around her mouth and putting a pillow over her face.

Her body was discovered at her flat in in Wellington Square, Ayr, on 31 August.

Boyd made no plea or declaration to a charge of culpable homicide and was remanded in custody.
