A 14-year-old boy has died after he was knocked down in a collision involving a car and then a police vehicle going in the opposite direction. A 14-year-old boy died after being hit by two vehicles - including a police car that was on its way to help him.
Northern Constabulary said the teenager was Sean Henderson, from Westford, Alness. Police were called when Sean Henderson and a friend were seen on the remote B817 Shore Road between Invergordon and Alness on Thursday evening.
The incident happened on the B817 Shore Road between Invergordon and Alness just before 2200 BST on Thursday. Mr Henderson, from Westford, was later struck by a car, then hit by a police car going in the opposite direction.
Police said their thoughts were with the family at "this extremely traumatic and difficult time". Northern Constabulary said its thoughts were with the family at "this extremely traumatic and difficult time".

A police spokesman said: "Police were requested to attend at Shore Road, Invergordon, following reports from members of the public expressing concern for the safety of two youths who were walking at that location.
"A police vehicle did attend, however, tragically at this time an oncoming vehicle has collided with one of the youths who has thereafter come into contact with the attending police vehicle."
