Mogherini’s gesture was interpreted in a way most unflattering to Russia, of course. While some may read a deeper meaning into it, it could simply be that Mogherini is Italian, and given the world-renowned coffee served in her home country, an American cup of joe might not be her first choice.
“Who knows what they put in that cup! The level of trust is ZERO,”said popular Russian blogger Rustem Adagamov.
