There are conflicting reports on the death toll and wounded in the carnage. Iran’s Irna news agency says that 10 people were killed and over 20 injured. While Tasnim reports the death toll has reached 12.  The carnage has claimed the lives of up to 24 people, Iran’s state-run Irna news agency says, adding that over 50 people were killed.
According to Irna, the assaults have been claimed by the "Patriotic Arab Democratic Movement in Ahwaz" group, but officials have yet to release information confirming that.  According to the outlet, the assault has been carried out by the "Patriotic Arab Democratic Movement in Ahwaz" group. "These terrorists... were trained and organised by two ... Gulf countries," Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi said.
