Cyclist, 14, dies after collision

A schoolboy has died after his bicycle was in a collision with a car in Dundee.

The 14-year-old was riding the bike on the busy Kingsway road at about 1845 BST on Tuesday when the collision with a silver Ford Mondeo occurred.

The boy, whose name has not yet been released but who was from the Downfield area of the city, was declared dead at the scene.

A report on the accident will be sent to the procurator fiscal.

In a separate incident, a nine-year-old boy was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with head injuries after his bike collided with a Mazda3 car.

The crash happened in Farrochie Park, Stonehaven, at about 1700 BST on Tuesday.

Grampian Police said the 30-year-old female driver of the car was treated at Stonehaven's Woodcott Hospital for shock. She was later released.
