Gwent Police say they have been looking for a discarded handgun in a murder investigation after a company director died at a driver recruitment agency. Police are continuing to search for a discarded handgun in a murder inquiry as officers were granted more time to question a 52-year-old suspect.
Detectives are continuing to question a 52-year-old man on suspicion of murder over the death of Kingsley Monk, 45, at New Inn, near Pontypool, on Monday. The Cardiff man was arrested at Newport railway station on Monday of suspicion of murdering Kingsley Monk, 45.
It was thought a handgun was carried but not fired during the incident which led to Mr Monk's death, police said. The company director died at the offices of Driverline 247, a driver recruitment agency, at New Inn, near Pontypool, on Monday lunchtime.
Officers have been searching the A4042 between Newport and Abergavenny. Officers have been granted an extra 36 hours to question the man in custody.
The suspect, who is from Cardiff, was arrested in Newport on Monday night and is still being questioned. It was thought a handgun was carried but not fired during the incident at Driverline 247, police said.
He is being questioned on suspicion of murder, attempted murder and false imprisonment. Detectives are not looking for anyone else in connection with the death of the father-of-two.
