A 52-year-old Cardiff man has been arrested in connection with a suspected robbery which left one man dead and another with serious head injuries. A 52-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an incident at a driver recruitment agency which left one man dead and three others injured.
Gwent Police said the man was being held on suspicion of murder, attempted murder and false imprisonment. The man, from Cardiff, was arrested on suspicion of murder, attempted murder and false imprisonment, police said.
Earlier, armed police had surrounded a house in Cardiff in the search for a suspect following the incident at an industrial estate in Pontypool. The incident happened at an industrial estate in New Inn, Pontypool, Torfaen.
Hostages were reportedly taken at the offices on the industrial estate. As part of the inquiry armed officers looking for the suspect had surrounded a house in Rumney, Cardiff, but after six hours it was found to be empty.
The arrest follows an incident at Driverline 247 Ltd in New Inn, Pontypool, where Gwent Police found one man fatally injured, and another man seriously injured. Gwent Police had been called to the offices of Driverline 247 Ltd at about 1330 BST on Monday.
The injured man was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport as were two other men who were treated for smoke inhalation from a blaze started during the alert. One man was found injured but died at the scene and another had serious head injuries.
Police used dogs and a helicopter in the search for the suspect who fled the scene at South Pontypool Industrial Park and Torfaen Business Centre. Smoke inhalation
The hunt later moved to Cardiff where some homes in Penrhos Crescent, Rumney, were evacuated and one property was surround by armed officers. Another two men were found to be suffering from smoke inhalation due to a fire which had been started at the premises.
The fire and ambulance services were later stood down at around 2030 BST. Police used dogs and a helicopter in the search for the attacker, who had fled the scene at South Pontypool Industrial Park and Torfaen Business Centre.
Their hunt became focused on a house in Penrhos Crescent, Rumney, 20 miles from New Inn.
Several neighbouring properties were evacuated and nearby streets were cordoned off, but after six hours, a South Wales Police spokesman said a search had been conducted and the property found to be empty.
Shortly after, police confirmed they had made an arrest.
All three injured men were taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital, in Newport, where a spokesman said they were in a stable condition.
