The father of a girl who died after the quad bike she was riding collided with a Range Rover in Essex has pleaded guilty to a charge of manslaughter. A father who admitted manslaughter over the death of his daughter, aged seven, after a quad bike crash has been given a nine-month suspended prison sentence.
Elizabeth Cooke, seven, died in hospital after the crash on Boxing Day last year in her home village of Blackmore, near Ongar. Gary Cooke, 46, from Blackmore, Essex, was also banned from riding quad bikes on public roads for two years.
She had been riding behind another Range Rover driven by her father. The girl died on Boxing Day last year after a collision with a Range Rover near the family home.
Gary Cooke, 46, appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court on Monday and admitted the charge brought by Essex Police. Judge Christopher Ball QC said, at Chelmsford Crown Court, Cooke's jail term would be suspended for two years.
