A man has been killed in a car crash in County Down. A motorcyclist has been killed in a road accident in County Down.
The accident occurred on the Newry by-pass at about 2200 BST on Friday. The road has been closed in both directions. The accident occurred on the Newry by-pass near the Chancellor's Road junction at about 2200 BST on Friday.
Police said diversions had been put in place and drivers were advised to avoid the area. It is not yet known if any other vehicle was involved in the crash, and police said they wanted to talk to anyone who witnessed the accident.
A PSNI spokesperson said anyone travelling south should go through Newry city and onto the old Dublin Road. The man was the 14th motorcyclist to die on Northern Ireland's roads since the beginning of the year.
The road was closed for a time in both directions but has since reopened.
