To the Editor:

Re “Trump Cancels Military Parade, Blaming Washington Officials for Inflating Costs” (nytimes.com, Aug. 17):

Americans don’t need a parade. We need leadership. And we don’t need to spend money sending President Trump to France for its Armistice Day parade as he no doubt has little military understanding of what the occasion represents, since he is neither literate about history nor has military experience, given his exemptions.

Spend the money on our veterans instead.
