A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the stabbing of a man in Londonderry. A 23-year-old man has appeared before Londonderry Magistrates Court charged in connection with a weekend stabbing.
The 26-year-old is in a stable condition in hospital after he was stabbed several times in Drumleck Drive in the Shantallow area. Daniel John Moran, of Inch View in the city, is accused of attempted murder.
Police attending the scene were attacked by youths throwing stones. A police officer told the court the defendant is alleged to have stabbed his 26-year-old victim following a row outside his home in Drumleck Drive.
Meanwhile, a 23-year-old man has been stabbed in Portadown. He was attacked in Thomas Street when he went to help a friend involved in a fight. A defence solicitor said Mr Moran admitted kicking and punching the victim but denied stabbing him. He was remanded in custody until 6 November.
Three men have been arrested. The court was told the injured man was stabbed in the face, chest, right forearm and left leg and is in Dundonald Hospital receiving specialist medical treatment.
