Car crash damages block of flats Man dies after stolen cars crash

Three people were left seriously injured in hospital and a man was arrested after two cars crashed and hit a block of flats in Bedford. A 25-year-old man walking home from a night out has died in hospital after being hit when two stolen cars collided and crashed into a block of flats.
The incident in London Road in the early morning badly damaged the building, which had to be evacuated. Six people have been arrested over the incident in London Road, Bedford, early on Sunday morning, police said.
A hole was left in a bedroom wall and a flat and stairwell were damaged. Three people from the stolen cars are in custody under arrest and three are in hospital, two with serious injuries.
Two people believed to have been inside the cars were in a critical condition and a third man, a pedestrian, was seriously injured, police said. The block of flats was badly damaged by the impact and residents must now be rehoused, a housing association said.
One man was arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft and is being held in custody. A hole was left in a bedroom wall and two flats and a stairwell were severely damaged in the crash but none of the residents was injured.

Structural engineeers said the block of flats has been left structurally unsound and all residents will have to be rehoused.
