The BBC Weather Centre has said an "extraordinary" amount of rain has fallen in north Wales overnight.
Between 1200 GMT on Sunday and 0700 GMT on Monday, 11.4cm (4.4 in) had fallen at the weather station in Capel Curig, Snowdonia.

The BBC Weather Centre has said an "extraordinary" amount of rain has fallen in north Wales overnight. According to the weather centre Capel Curig in Snowdonia was one of the wettest places in Wales over the last 24 hours.
Between 1200 GMT on Sunday and 0700 GMT on Monday, 10.9cm (4.3 in) had fallen at the weather station in Capel Curig, Snowdonia. The total rainfall so far this month has been 34.4cm (13.5 inch) which is more than the December average of 29.8cm (11.7 inch)
It is expected that more than 12cm (5in) will be recorded later on Monday. 'More rain'
A stretch of the A470 was closed both ways in Gwynedd after a landslide overnight. The Environment Agency has said there are currently nine Flood Warnings and 23 Flood Watches in force .
Heavy rain is thought to have caused the slide, about one mile north of Mallwyd between Machynlleth and Dolgellau. According to BBC weatherman, Derek Brockway more rain and strong winds are on the way over the next few days with a risk of more flooding.
Police have set up diversions after debris on the road made it impassable. It is not known when it will be reopened. "As for the outlook, unsettled for the rest of the week. It will be mild but windy with more rain," he said.
Network Rail say that the Conwy Valley line between Llandudno Junction and Blaenau Ffestiniog is still closed following the flooding last week. "More rain clouds are gathering in the Atlantic and heading our way
"Most of the rain will be in the north and west with a risk of flooding. However, it should cheer-up next weekend.
"It will turning colder but much drier and brighter with some sunshine."
