A murder investigation has been launched after a 16-year-old boy was fatally stabbed in Liverpool. A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder over the fatal stabbing of a teenager in Liverpool.
Merseyside Police said he was found in Belle Vale Road, Gateacre, at about 21:00 BST on Tuesday and was pronounced dead at midnight in hospital. Merseyside Police said a 16-year-old boy was found with stab injuries on Belle Vale Road, Gateacre, at about 21:00 BST on Tuesday.
Det Ch Insp Bev Hyland said: "We are in the very early stages of our investigation into this tragic incident in which a young life has been taken." He was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead at about midnight.
Police have appealed for witnesses and dashcam footage. Det Ch Supt Chris Green said police wanted to speak to witnesses, including "a male and female who we believe administered first aid to the victim".
A cordon is in place in the area near Woodholme Court while forensic and house-to-house inquiries take place. Local resident Darcy Hartley, 74, said she heard raised voices outside at about 21:00.
"It sounded like a large group of boys, then a lot of police turned up," she said.
Another local, who did not want to be named, said they "went out and had a look and could see the lad being treated by paramedics just over the road".
"It's terrible, it seems to be getting worse. Life is cheap these days, with people carrying knives around," they added.
Det Ch Supt Green also appealed for anyone with dashcam footage from around the time of the attack to come forward.
