Detectives investigating a shooting which left one man dead and two seriously injured have traced a car they believe is connected to the crime.

Michael Lyons, 21, was killed in the attack at Applerow Motors MOT station in Lambhill, Glasgow, at about 1415 on Wednesday.

Stephen Lyons, 26, and Robert Pickett, 41, are still in hospital.

The light blue Mazda 6, which bears the registration plate S733 ESF, was recovered from Vaila Street in Cadder.

'Vital information'

The car was found at about 2130 GMT on Friday, four-and-a-half miles from the garage.

Det Supt Campbell Corrigan, who is in charge of this investigation, said: "This is a distinctive car and we believe it has been in the Cadder area for the past few days.

"We are anxious to trace any person who may have seen this vehicle being driven into Vaila Street, or who may have seen anyone behaving suspiciously around the vicinity.

Flowers have been left at the scene of the shooting

"This vehicle will provide vital information relating to our enquiry, but we also need to hear from anyone who may know where this vehicle came from."

A blue car was seen parked near the garage just before the shooting at about 1415 GMT.

It is believed that two men, wearing calf-length quilted-style coats, walked from the car to the garage, carried out the shooting then returned to the vehicle.

Police have also been investigating a fire which broke out on Saturday near to the scene of the shooting, although they are not linking the two at this stage.
