Man due in court on gun charges Man 'pressured into keeping gun'
(about 3 hours later)
A 40-year-old man is to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court on Saturday charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition. A man charged with having a semi-automatic pistol claimed he was pressured into keeping it, a Belfast court has been told.
The charges are in connection with the discovery of firearms, ammunition and cash in north Belfast. Gary Dorrian, 40, from Baltic Avenue, north Belfast, was charged with having the gun and 70 rounds of bullets at Belfast Magistrates Court on Saturday.
The items were found during a planned search of a house in Baltic Avenue on Thursday night. His solicitor said that Mr Dorrian was not holding the weapon of his own volition.
A 46-year-old woman arrested in connection with the incident has been released on bail pending a report. He was remanded in custody to appear again via videolink in a fortnight.
The charges relate to the search of a house in Baltic Avenue on Thursday 2 October.
