A person has rammed their car into the gates of the US embassy in Seoul, South Korea. The driver has reportedly been arrested by police. A government employee has rammed a car into the gate of the US embassy in Seoul, South Korea. He was reportedly seeking asylum in the United States.
A photo posted online by Reuters correspondent Josh Smith shows a silver Toyota sedan with obvious damage to the front after hitting the gate.  The driver, a 48-year-old man, smashed a silver Toyota sedan into the gate on Thursday evening. He has been arrested by police and a female passenger has been taken to hospital with a head injury, according to Yonhap news agency.
There are unconfirmed reports circulating that the driver was North Korean and seeking asylum in the US. The man reportedly said "help me" several times after getting out of the vehicle. The man told police that he drove his car into the gate because he has "stories related to North Korea" and wants to "seek asylum in the United States," Yonhap reported.

According to witnesses cited by Sputnik, the driver was a 48-year-old man by the name of Yun. Police have reportedly stated that his blood alcohol level showed no signs of intoxication.At least one person was reportedly injured during the incident. A police officer cited by Yonhap said the man is an employee of South Korea's Ministry of Gender Equality and Family. A test of the driver's blood alcohol level did not find him to be intoxicated.
