Version 0 of 1.

Up to 300 agency workers at a Bosch manufacturing plant are at risk, says the firm.

Between 100 - 300 workers from agencies at the plant in Miskin, Rhondda Cynon Taf, could be affected in the first quarter of 2009 depending on orders.

Bosch, which has made alternators at the plant since 1991, said the move was due to difficult market conditions and that staff were being kept informed.

So far the firm said it had let 26 agency staff go on 27 September.

There are currently about 1,400 people employed at the plant on permanent, temporary or agency contracts. The agency workers would be the only ones affected, said Bosch.

A spokeswoman for Bosch said: "It is with great regret that we have had to make these decisions and we will continue to keep all employees fully informed during this difficult process.

"Employment of agency staff will be reviewed on a monthly basis."

The firm said it was reducing agency contracts in the division so that it did not have to make permanent staff redundant.
