Scotland's music festivals are battling it out with events across the UK to be named the best.

Members of the public will choose the winners at the UK Festival Awards, which will be held in October.

Belladrum, held at Beauly in the Highlands, leads the Scottish pack, with six nominations in categories such as best line-up and innovation.

T in the Park, the Wickerman festival, Hydro Connect, Rock Ness and Loopallu have also been nominated.

The Wickerman festival, which is held on farmland near Kirkcudbright, has received five nominations for best grass roots festival, medium sized festival, family friendly festival, line-up and toilets.

Gill Dykes, Dumfries and Galloway council's events champion, said: "It is terrific to see the Wickerman festival receive this recognition for its excellence across the board.

"The festival has a wonderful site and plenty of space for festival-goers to enjoy themselves, as well as quality music and entertainment."

T in the Park in Balado, Kinross-shire, has been nominated in four categories - best major festival, line-up, innovation and toilets.

Festival Director Geoff Ellis said: "We are delighted to be once again nominated for best major festival, it's one we've won twice before, and it would be a fitting conclusion to the success of the festival's 15th year to walk away with it again.

"We are massively committed to providing a spectacular line-up, year-on-year, and hope that the fans will show us their support in the best line-up category also. The fans make the festival what it is and we hope to count on their bountiful support!"
