(40 minutes later)
Two Britons have been confirmed dead following a coach crash north of Jeddah, in Saudi Arabia, the Foreign Office has said. Two Britons are among three people who have been killed in a coach crash north of Jeddah, in Saudi Arabia, the Foreign Office has said.
The crash happened early on Saturday and involved a number of Britons. Several other Britons were also hurt in the crash, early on Saturday 55 miles north of Jeddah at the port of Rabegh.
British embassy officials are trying to find out what happened and are offering consular assistance at the scene of the crash to those involved. The Britons who died were Muslim pilgrims believed to be in the country for the Hajj pilgrimage, said the British embassy in Riyadh.
A spokesman said several other Britons had been injured, but could not confirm the exact total. The nationality of the third person who died is not yet known.
A third person, who was not a British citizen, died in the crash 55 miles north of Jeddah at Rabegh. Diplomats from the British consulate in the Red Sea port of Jeddah are at the scene of the crash offering consular support to those involved.
It is not yet clear how many people were travelling on the coach but a Foreign Office spokesman said "several" Britons had been injured.
Tens of thousands of British Muslims travel to Saudi Arabia for the annual Hajj pilgrimage each year.
