A man has denied murdering a football fan who was hit by a car following a derby game in Birmingham.

Aston Villa fan Christopher Priest, 26, of Sutton Coldfield, died following the crash in Aston Hall on 20 April.

Lee Mockble, 20, of Robin Hood Lane, Hall Green, pleaded not guilty to the charges of murder and dangerous driving at Wolverhampton Crown Court.

He was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear before the court again on 20 April next year.

The Crown Prosecution Service has said there was no evidence the incident was linked to rivalry between Aston Villa and Birmingham City fans.
