Following the poisoning, UK Prime Minister Theresa May stated the government’s chemical laboratory at Porton Down had identified  the “military-grade” chemical agents used in the attack as Novichok.

Treating the Skripals and DS Nick Bailey while also providing “outstanding care” to other patients “has been a huge and unprecedented challenge,” she added, commending the staff at Salisbury Hospital for their work.
