Beyonce to perform at UK MTV show MTV nods for Coldplay and Duffy

R&B star Beyonce is to launch her third album with a performance at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Liverpool, organisers have announced. British acts Coldplay and Duffy have received three nominations apiece at this year's MTV Europe Music Awards, to be held in Liverpool on 6 November.
The singer, whose last album, B'Day, spawned hits like Irreplaceable and Beautiful Liar, is also nominated for a prize in the ultimate urban category. Both are up for album of the year and "most addictive track". Coldplay also get a nod for act of 2008, while Duffy is up for the new act prize.
Britney Spears, Duffy and Coldplay lead the nominations, with three nods each. Singer Britney Spears is up for two prizes following her success at the Video Music Awards earlier this month.
Amy Winehouse and Leona Lewis will go head-to-head for the act of the year award at the ceremony on 6 November. R&B star Beyonce is the only performer confirmed for the show so far.
Ms Spears, Coldplay and Rihanna are also in the running for the prize. The singer, nominated for a prize in the ultimate urban category, will launch her third solo album at the event at Liverpool's Echo Arena.
Nominees for album of the year are Alicia Keys, Britney Spears, Coldplay, Duffy and Leona Lewis. Other British acts in contention include Amy Winehouse and Leona Lewis, also nominated for the act of the year prize.
'Best act ever' 'Show-stopping'
Spears won three moonman trophies at the US MTV awards this monthKaty Perry's controversial number one I Kissed A Girl is among the songs shortlisted for the most addictive track prize. Lewis's debut disc Spirit is up for the album of the year prize as well, as is American stars Alicia Keys and Spears.
It goes up against Coldplay's string-drenched anthem Viva La Vida and the soulful pop of Duffy's Mercy. Spears's other nomination comes in the Act of 2008 category, an award for which chart-topping singer Rihanna is also shortlisted.
Other nominees are Kid Rock's 21st century interpretation of Sweet Home Alabama, All Summer Long, and Pink's hook-laden So What. Beyonce will perform a week ahead of the release of her untitled third album Katy Perry's controversial number one I Kissed A Girl is among the other songs in line for the most addictive track prize.
Other categories include best rock act, best new act and the headliner prize for live music. Other nominees are All Summer Long, Kid Rock's 21st Century interpretation of Lynyrd Skynyrd's Sweet Home Alabama and Pink's So What.
There is also a shortlist of 40 artists for the best act ever award - with frontrunners including the Beatles, Madonna and Take That. Other categories include best rock act and the Headliner prize for live music, with metal acts Linkin' Park and Metallica shortlisted for both.
Music fans have until Sunday, November 2, to vote for their favourites by visiting the MTV Europe Music Awards website. Forty artists have also been nominated for the best act ever award, with frontrunners including the Beatles, Madonna and Take That.

The 27-year-old will take to the stage a week ahead of the release of her third album - which has yet to receive a title. Richard Godfrey, MTV's senior vice president, promised the ceremony would feature performances from "some of the biggest names in music today".
The act is likely to feature her two new singles, If I Were A Boy and Single Ladies, which are released simultaneously in October. "I am confident the bill will live up to our promise that the MTV Europe Music Awards will be the best gig in Europe this year," he added.
Richard Godfrey, senior vice president of MTV, said Beyonce would "wow the audience with what promises to be a show-stopping performance".
