About 1,000 revellers had to be evacuated from a nightclub in Dorset when a fire broke out.

The blaze was discovered in a storeroom behind the stage at the Opera House, in Boscombe, early on Saturday.

Clubbers attending a drum 'n' bass night were forced to leave the building as staff extinguished the flames.

Investigators are treating the fire as deliberate and have appealed for information. A member of staff was treated for smoke inhalation.
