Version 0 of 1.

US Senator Edward Kennedy, who has brain cancer, has been briefly taken to hospital after suffering a mild seizure, doctors say.

A spokesman for the Massachusetts senator, who is 76, said he had felt unwell after a change in medication.

He was diagnosed in May with a malignant brain tumour and underwent surgery in June.

The brother of assassinated President John F Kennedy has been receiving chemotherapy and radiation treatment.

Senator Kennedy was taken by ambulance to a hospital near his holiday home on Cape Cod, in Massachusetts, on Friday.

He returned home a few hours later.

The second longest-serving member of the Senate, Mr Kennedy was an active supporter of Senator Barack Obama during the Democratic primaries.

He has vowed to return to the Senate next year to spearhead efforts to establish a system of universal health care in the US.
