Version 0 of 1.

Fifty people have been injured in a collision between a coach and a lorry on the M42 in Worcestershire.

The driver of the coach had to be freed by firefighters, and he and three other people were taken to hospital.

The remaining walking wounded were taken from the hard shoulder of the motorway, between junctions 3 and 3a, to Warwick services for treatment.

The driver of the lorry, a man in his 40s, and two other people were among those treated at the motorway services.

The driver of the coach suffered pelvic injuries, a woman, believed to be in her 50s, was taken to Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham with back pain and two men were taken to Warwick hospital with minor injuries.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said the collision "clearly had the potential to be a much more serious incident".

Two ambulances, five rapid response vehicles, an emergency doctor and the County Air Ambulance were sent to the scene.

The lorry was damaged at the rear and the coach at the front, the spokesman said.

The crash happened at about 1400 BST.
