A man has been charged with the attempted kidnap and attempted sexual assault of an eight-year-old girl. A man has appeared in court accused of attempting to kidnap and sexually assault an eight-year-old girl in Brighton.
The child was grabbed and pushed to the ground in Tidy Street, Brighton, on Saturday morning after posting a letter for her parents. Michael Belhawla, 24, confirmed his name and address - Auckland Drive, Brighton - when he appeared before city magistrates on Wednesday.
She suffered grazes and shock but did not need hospital treatment. He is charged with attempted kidnap and attempted sexual assault.
Michael Belhawla, 24, of Auckland Drive, Brighton, has been remanded to appear before Brighton Magistrates' Court later. He did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody to appear at Lewes Crown Court on 6 June.
