Probe into death of city teenager Drugs 'may have killed two more'
(about 6 hours later)
Police in Inverness investigating the death of a young man in the city have released his name. Police have said the deaths of two men in Inverness over the past two days could be drug-related.
Northern Constabulary said 19-year-old Christopher Carson was pronounced dead at an address in Telford Road on Thursday afternoon. A 39-year-old man was found dead after the emergency services were called to a home in Tannery Court at about 1630 BST on Friday.
One line of inquiry being considered by officers was that the death had been drugs-related. It followed the death on Thursday afternoon of 19-year-old Christopher Carson at an address in Telford Road.
A post-mortem examination will be carried out and a report submitted to the procurator fiscal. A total of four people have now died from suspected drug misuse in the city this month.
The deaths have raised fears that a contaminated batch of heroin could be on the streets.
But initial tests on drug users Angela Spear, 28, and Rory Devine, 30, who both died in separate incident in the city earlier this month, are not thought to support this theory.
Northern Constabulary said investigations were continuing into the deaths, and hospitals and drug workers had been put on alert.
NHS Highland has appealed for injecting drug users to take extra care.
