Reports are coming in of an explosion on a construction site in Bath. There has been an explosion on the construction site of the new shopping development in Bath city centre.
Flames and smoke have have been seen at the site near Henry Street close to Marks and Spencer. A gas canister exploded shooting flames and black smoke into the air. There are no reports of any injuries at present.

Many shops and offices in the area have been evacuated. Contractors have been guiding members of the public away from the development site. One eyewitness said: "I saw black smoke and we heard a few bangs and a series of fairly large explosions."
Many shops and offices around the SouthGate development have been evacuated and Bath Spa train station is currently closed.
A spokesperson from Multi Development UK Ltd said: "An incident has occurred on site whereby a fire was started during asphalting operations in Block B.
"The site and surrounding streets have been evacuated and the fire and rescue service are attending and fighting the fire currently."
The development had its topping out ceremony last week.
