An investigation is under way after a suspected petrol bomb attack at the Iranian embassy in London.

Arsonists are understood to have targeted the embassy, in Prince's Gate, near Knightsbridge, at about 2045 BST on Monday.

No-one was injured in the attack, which left the door of the embassy with minor damage, Scotland Yard said.

Officers could not confirm how the fire was started, but they said a petrol bomb is most likely to have caused it.

Detectives are examining CCTV footage from the area for clues as to what happened.
