Version 0 of 1.

An Israeli court has sentenced a Palestinian man to life plus 80 years for his part in the assassination of an Israeli cabinet minister in 2001.

Majdi Rahima Rimawi was found guilty of recruiting and supplying weapons to members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine for the attack.

The minister, Rehavam Zeevi, was shot dead at a hotel in East Jerusalem.

Mr Zeevi was a controversial figure. He advocated the transfer of Palestinians from the West Bank to Arab states.

Rimawi had been jailed by the Palestinian Authority but was seized by Israel two years ago in a raid on the prison where he was being held.
