Russia will present on Tuesday to the UN Security Council a draft resolution on the investigation by the experts of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) of an incident of the alleged use of chemical weapons in the Syrian town of Douma in Eastern Ghouta. The document would require a transparent investigation with work at the site after a direct invitation from the Syrian government, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said. Russia’s envoy to the UN, Vassily Nebenzia, earlier said that Moscow is ready to serve as a guarantor of security for experts from the OPCW, who could inspect the site of the alleged attack.
