Dozens of people are expected to line the streets in Eglinton on Saturday to welcome double gold medallist Jason Smyth home from the Paralympics.

Smyth returned to Dublin on Friday, and will attend the homecoming party in Eglinton on Saturday.

As part of the celebrations, Smyth will tour Eglinton on an ex-Army landrover.

His mother Diane, who accompanied Smyth to Beijing, said she was extremely proud of her son, but still found his victory hard to take in.

"I'm very proud, it's so hard to say how proud I am, it's just unbelievable.

"I still haven't really realised how I feel.

"I'm just very emotional and very excited for him as well," she said.
