Version 0 of 1.

Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair is to appear on US satirical TV show The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

Mr Blair guests on the late-night show, which will be broadcast to a national television audience on Thursday.

He is the sixth current or ex-leader of a country - including two former US presidents - to have been on the show.

Mr Blair is appearing on the programme a day before he begins a teaching course on "faith and globalisation" at Yale University.

New roles

The Emmy-award winning Daily Show describes itself as "unburdened by objectivity, journalistic integrity or even accuracy".

Mr Blair's spokesman said: "The Daily Show have been asking Tony Blair to appear for some time."

The spokesman added that Mr Blair's course would "explore how faith, traditions and globalisation may influence each other and why understanding this mutual process is important in the 21st Century".

Since quitting as prime minister, Mr Blair has adopted several new roles, including acting as a Middle East envoy and taking up business consultancies.
