A school for children with learning difficulties in Coleraine has been attacked by vandals for the fourth time in two weeks.

On Sunday night windows at Sandelford Special school on Rugby Avenue were smashed, equipment was damaged and graffiti was daubed on the walls.

Last week buses were damaged at the school, causing pupils to miss lessons.

Coleraine PSNI Inspector John Wisener said they will increase patrols to combat anti-social behaviour.

He said police believe those responsible are aged between 16 and 20, and are known locally.

"There has been quite a bit of anti-social behaviour up in the area around the shops in Mountsandel.

"We believe at night they're moving down into the playing fields area and they are carrying out these attacks," he said.
