Lily Allen has thanked the Metropolitan Police for foiling an alleged kidnap plot involving one of her friends.

The 23-year-old singer said she was "terrified" after the friend was abducted at gunpoint at a sports store in Ladbroke Grove, west London.

Her friend and another man were then allegedly held hostage at a house in Thamesmead before police freed the pair a week later on 9 August.

Five men have appeared in court charged with kidnapping offences.

Allen wrote on her blog: "Thank you to the Met for getting my friend back.

"We were all terrified and from what I hear you guys did an amazing job."
