Work at Liverpool Lime Street is expected to take 24 hours and has forced the terminus to close on Sunday and Monday. Passengers and commuters have been told to check with train operators before travelling. Network Rail said severe corrosion was found on a structure that carries overhead wires over all four lines, stopping trains from passing underneath. A spokesman said: “All lines to and from Liverpool Lime Street are closed while we carry out emergency repairs. We will work as quickly as possible to reopen all lines. “I’d like to apologise for the disruption this will cause and ask passengers to check before they travel.” Rail transport Liverpool Transport news Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share via Email Share on LinkedIn Share on Pinterest Share on Google+ Share on WhatsApp Share on Messenger Reuse this content |
