Police said two people were arrested in the quadruple homicide that took the lives of two women and two children in their upstate New York apartment and led the city of Troy’s police chief to say he had “never seen savagery like this” in 42 years in law enforcement. Two men have been arrested on murder charges in the deaths of two women and two children in their apartment in the upstate New York city of Troy.
Officials made the announcement early on Saturday morning. The suspects’ names, photos and charges were not immediately released. Police said information would be made available later Saturday morning. Justin Mann and James White pleaded not guilty on Saturday in court in Troy. Both are from Schenectady. Each was charged with one count of first-degree murder and four counts of second-degree murder, police said.
Both defendants were scheduled for arraignment in Troy City Court around 8.30am on Saturday. The Times-Union newspaper said Mann appeared to break down as he was led out of court. Both men were being held in county jail. Their next court appearance was set for next Thursday, 4 January.
