Policeman arrest after murder bid Sergeant on murder attempt charge

A police officer is due to appear in court in connection with a disturbance which left a man seriously injured. A police officer and his teenage son have appeared in court charged with attempted murder.

The officer was injured following the incident in the Knightswood area involving up to seven men. A 30-year-old man suffered serious injuries during a disturbance on Monday, 18 August.
A 30-year-old man suffered serious injuries. Police are treating the attack as attempted murder. Two other teenagers are also accused of the charge. All four made no plea or declaration and were released on bail.
Sgt Beattie, his 19-year-old son, and two other teenagers were arrested on Friday and spent the weekend in custody. They are due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court.
The disturbance happened in Blairdardie Road at about 2040 BST on Monday 18 August.
The officer and his son, who was also reportedly injured in the incident, were treated at hospital before being discharged.
A police spokeswoman said: "Four men, aged 17, 18, 19 and 46 years, have been arrested and are presently detained in police custody."
