Man killed in two-car collision

A 44-year-old man has been killed in a crash in Ayrshire.

Kenneth McLeod, from Saltcoats, died at the scene after the Rover car he was driving was in collision with a Volkswagen.

The accident happened on the A78 between Ardrossan and West Kilbride at about 0730 BST on Saturday.

The 37-year-old driver of the Volkswagen and his 33-year-old female passenger were taken to hospital but discharged after treatment.

Sgt Alistair Carswell, of Strathclyde Police, urged witnesses to contact police.
