Attacked new mum's partner held
(about 22 hours later) | |
Detectives investigating a reported attack by a burglar on a pregnant woman in her home are questioning her partner on suspicion of attempted murder.
Nerys Price had an emergency Caesarean to deliver her baby after the assault at her home in Prestatyn, Denbighshire, in the early hours of Friday 15 August.
Her partner, Simon Morris, 36, was also apparently injured.
But Mr Morris was arrested on Saturday night, a week after the attack, on suspicion of attempted murder.
Ms Price, 35, was just weeks away from giving birth when she suffered severe injuries after being hit over the head in the raid on the couple's £300,000 home in Calthorpe Drive in the seaside town.
Doctors at Glan Clwyd Hospital, Bodelwyddan, decided to deliver her daughter, Freya, amid fears for Ms Price's health after the attack.
She later received treatment for her injuries at Walton Hospital, Liverpool, before returning home.
Mr Morris appeared at Llandudno Magistrates' Court on Sunday where police were granted a warrant for his further detention for questioning.
A spokeswoman for North Wales Police said: "Detectives have been given a further 36 hours to detain the 36-year-old and now have until tomorrow night to question him." |
