Insurgents have attacked a Nato convoy in the southern Afghan city of Kandahar, killing at least three civilians, police and witnesses said. In the fourth suicide attack in the area in a week, a car bomber detonated explosives after trying to ram a Nato-led military patrol. Three Nato soldiers were wounded in the attack, a Nato spokesman confirmed. There were also reports of further civilian injuries in gun clashes which followed the bombing. Witnesses and a doctor spoke of at least five people suffering from gunshot wounds. The blasts damaged a Nato armoured vehicle and left debris scattered over a wide area, according to an Associated Press reporter at the scene. Attacks by the Taleban and their allies have soared recently, particularly in the restive south of the country. Nato-led forces are facing the fiercest resistance from militants since the toppling of the Taleban regime five years ago. Two Canadian soldiers were killed in an attack outside Kandahar on Monday. |
