Woman dies in motorway collision

The accident happened on the southbound carriageway between junction 10 at Brackley and junction 9 at Bicester. The woman, aged about 30, died at the scene when the white Vauxhall Astra she was in collided with a van, which had already hit the central reservation. A man and one-year-old baby also in the car were taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, along with the driver of a red Rover involved in the crash. The driver of the green Ford Escort van was not injured in the collision. The M40 was closed at junction 10 while police investigated at the scene and traffic was diverted around the Bicester bypass. The road was reopened just after 1200 GMT. |
