Clean-up efforts after flooding Flood rail disruption to continue
(about 1 hour later)
Trains between Dundee and Aberdeen have been disrupted after severe flooding caused by heavy rain. Train services between Dundee and Aberdeen will not be back to normal until Saturday at the earliest, Network Rail has said.
It is estimated more than 100 properties in Dundee were affected by rising waters on Thursday night. Travel has been disrupted since Thursday evening due to a landslip near Stonehaven and flooding in Angus.
A spokesman for Tayside Fire and Rescue Service said some streets had been under three to four feet of water. The landslip has since been cleared but fire fighters are still pumping water from the rail line at Inverkeilor.
The M9 was also closed for a period between J3 and J4 after significant flooding, with water up to six inches deep lying on the carriageway. A clear-up is also under way in Dundee after heavy rain caused damage to about 100 properties in the city centre.
Tayside Fire and Rescue incident commander Stewart Edgar said the rains in Dundee brought the worst flooding he had seen in the city for many years. Tayside Fire and Rescue incident commander, Stewart Edgar, said the rains in Dundee brought the worst flooding he had seen in the city for many years.

Train services between Dundee and Aberdeen were halted after heavy rains deluged the track in several places.
The worst affected area appeared to be near the village of Inverkeilor, Angus, where 200m of track was under two metres of water, police said.
Operator First ScotRail said other sections of the line had also been affected. The route was expected to remain closed on Friday morning and replacement bus services were being put on.
Efforts are expected to get under way to pump water off the track later in the day and to assess a landslip on another part of the track.
