The Prime Minister has described a campaigning journalist who has died from leukaemia at the age of 26 as a "true hero". | |
Adrian Sudbury, from Sheffield, spent the final few months of his life petitioning MPs calling for better awareness of bone marrow donation. | |
Mr Sudbury wrote a blog throughout his illness sharing his experiences. | |
Prime Minister Gordon Brown said Mr Sudbury's selflessness and courage made him an inspiration to others. | |
The Huddersfield Examiner journalist died in the early hours of Wednesday. | |
He had vowed to raise the profile of bone marrow donation for others to have a chance at life and throughout his campaign he met Mr Brown. | |

The Prime Minister said: "I spoke to Adrian last Wednesday and his campaigning spirit and his optimism remained undimmed. | |
"My thoughts are with his family at this time and I know they will be proud that Adrian's achievements will continue to help others after he has gone." | |
Mr Sudbury was diagnosed with two types of leukaemia. A bone marrow transplant proved unsuccessful and doctors said the disease was terminal. | |
He was told in May that the leukaemia had returned and he decided not to have any further treatment. | |

He died peacefully in his sleep, with his family, including parents Keith and Kay, beside him at their home in Pixton, Derbyshire. | |
In a statement Mr Sudbury said: "Every parent thinks their son or daughter is special and we are no different. | |
"Adrian touched all who knew him. We're very proud of all his achievements in tragically such a short time. | |
"Kay and I hope that all Adrian's good work will be continued by all those who knew him and loved him. " | |
The journalist lobbied MPs for better information campaigns and gathered 11,000 names for a petition calling for better education about bone marrow donation for others. | |
