Pair charged with kidnap, hijack

Two men have been charged with a number of offences after a cross-border police chase on Monday night.

Among the charges facing the 40-year-old and 19-year-old are kidnapping and hijacking.

The men were arrested in County Armagh after a taxi driver was allegedly held at gunpoint and forced to drive across the Irish border from County Monaghan.

It is understood gardai had tried to arrest the men in a follow-up operation to a house search in Castleblayney.

The car was pursued by the Garda until it crossed the border at Keady.

Both men were subsequently arrested by the PSNI at about 2040 BST.

A 38-year-old woman was arrested following the initial search operation and was being held at Castleblayney Garda Station.
